South Island Road Trip Highlights

MOTORHOME SOUTH ISLAND TRIP 2018

We dreamed about this trip for so long. It's always exciting when another of your dreams has come true. Mountains, Lakes and winter in the middle of July.

We planned to do it around Yulia's birthday from 1st to 7th of July. July is the coldest month of winter in New Zealand. But nothing could stop us to plan our trip.

Our favourite way to travel when it's possible, is by motorhome. Literally Motor - Home. It has everything inside: lounge, kitchen, dining, bedroom, toilet and shower. Just ideal for those who love to travel around cities and see all the beautiful nature in between.

As we live on North Island of New Zealand, we had to fly to Christchurch, which is on South Island (thankfully, the motorhome company we prefer has office there as well as in Auckland).

From Christchurch we went down to Lake Tekapo to Aoraki Mount Cook National Park to Twizel to Wanaka to Queenstown to Cromwell to Dunedin to Moeraki Boulders to Timaru to Christchurch.

Here is a photo-highlight of our favourite spots on the way.

Sunrise was just stunning with clouds and mountains, especially from the airplane window.

Architectural beauty on the way to Christchurch from the airport.

Beautiful colour of the lake just takes your breath away.

Majestic Mount Cook and one of the Wilderness Motorhomes.

Twizel - very cute little town on the way from Lake Pukaki.

Wanaka was gorgeous, but stole our heart with it's sunsets and sunrises.

Queenstown truly deserves it's name.

We were just passing, by we couln't stop. Look at this Mirror Lake!

We arrived to Dunedin in the evening. The beauty of it we fully appreciated the next morning.

On the road from Dunedin to Moeraki Boulders. Thats why we love Road Trips.

The tiny, but gorgeous Timaru.

As a short photo story this was our trip, but I'd definitely like to tell you more about every destination - lake, mountain and town.

Keep an eye on the blog!
