Trip through Russia

Updated: Jan 29, 2019

Our hearts were aching seeing Russian biggest cities on TV this month during FIFA World Cup 2018.

We are not football fans, but the fact, that so many nations uniting together to play same sport was so amazing. We truly wish we could be there.

The reason we didn't go, well, you hear lots of not pleasant stories about football fans, so we thought we would't risk it. And boy we regret it!

All those colourful flags, happy cheering fans all over the streets of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Rostov-On-Don, Ekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Saransk.

Even Yulia haven't been in 80% of them (and she is from Russia).

However, we were in Russia in 2016, it was a part of our honeymoon trip, introduction of Arash to all Yulia's extended family and friend, exploring cities like Kholmsk and YuzhnoSakhalinsk on Sakhalin Island, Krasnoyarsk in Siberia, and of coarse Mother Moscow!

For all of the cities we'll write separate posts, but for now here are the photo highlights of that heart-warming trip.

Kholmsk is a small town on Sakhalin Island, far East of Russia, Yulia's home town.

Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city is the administrative center of Sakhalin Oblast, population about 190,000 people.

Krasnoyarsk is the third largest city in Siberia region, population around 1,083,900 people.

Moscow is a capital of Russian Federation. The centre for business, education and shopping in Russia. With population over 17 million people (excluding thousands oh tourists every day)

Can't wait to tell you more in details about each of this places, so you can see how being cities of the same country they are absolutely different and unique.

Keep an eye on the blog!
